Pickled Red Onion

These Pickled red onions are perfect to give almost any dish a tangy and sweet flavor. The onions can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Ingredients

Pickled Onion
  • 2 red onions
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1/3 cup white vinegar
  • 3/5 cup sugar
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced

Instructions

  • Start by thinly slicing your red onion and garlic then adding it to a glass jar.
  • Add water, vinegar and sugar to a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Let cool and pour over the onions. Set aside to cool completely before storing in the fridge.
  • Your pickled onions will be ready to eat once they're bright pink and tender - about 1 hour for very thinly sliced onions, or overnight for thick sliced onions.
